2020 Skoda Superb launched at Rs.29.99 lakhs

Skoda India has launched the facelift for their flagship sedan in the Indian Market, the Superb. It is now available in two variants, the Sportline trim priced at Rs.29.99 lakhs and the L&K variant priced at Rs. 32.99 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.

The facelift gets many new updates giving it a more premium appeal. It gets a new front bumper design with narrower LED Headlights and fog lights. It also gets a new front grille along with other cosmetic tweaks. It gets some chrome additions at the rear which add to its posh appeal. The sportline variant gets a sportier looks. It gets new 17-inch alloys, blackened exterior elements and a rear spoiler. Sportline is available with three colour options Race Blue, Moon White and Steel Grey. While the L&K variant gets five colour options – Lava Blue, Moon White, Business Grey, Magic Black and Magnetic Brown – and new dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels.

Towards the cabin, the updates one can notice include a Virtual Cockpit like Instrument cluster with a 10.25 inch configurable display. It now also gets a wireless charging pad, an updated 8.0 inch infotainment system. Features making up from the outgoing model include powered and ventilated front seats, an 11-speaker Canton audio system, three-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, hands-free parking, a panoramic sunroof and more. The standard Superb comes with dual-tone black-and-beige upholstery, while the Sportline gets an all-black cabin going with its sportier looks.

Powering the new Superb is a new larger and more powerful 2.0-litre Petrol motor, which is nearly 200cc upgrade in displacement. The 2.0-litre TSI churns out 190PS of power and 320NM of torque which is increase of 10PS and 70NM over the older engine. It channels the power to the wheels through a 7-speed DCT. It sprints from standstill to 100KM/H in 7.7 secs, with a top speed of 239KM/H. Skoda also claims it returns mileage of 15.1Km/l. The diesel engine has been discontinued.

Skoda Superb has no direct rival in the Indian Market. The closest of the sedan rival include Toyota Camry which carries a much higher price tag, while there are many SUVs available in the same price segment.
