Maruti Suzuki Ertiga from the Japanese giant has been one of the most successful MPV s in the Indian market. It is the highest-selling vehicle in its segment.
Ertiga has been quite popular with commercial operators as well, as it offers both space for 7 as well as practicality and ease of maintenance. The new generation Ertiga offers much more in terms of space and utility and is already a success. To further improvise, Maruti Suzuki recently launched a CNG variant of the Ertiga. The new CNG version is based on the VXi petrol variant.
The VXI trim gets features like power windows, multi-info display, manual AC, remote locking, 2-din audio system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX, steering mounted controls, projector headlamps, and electrically adjustable/foldable ORVMs.
In terms of safety, it gets features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert, driver and co-driver seat belt warning as well as ISOFIX mounts for child seats in the second row.
The CNG variant of the Ertiga sports the same K15 Petrol motor that churns out a maximum of 103bhp of power and 138NM of torque. However, in CNG mode, these figures have been lowered to 91bhp and 122NM respectively. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The petrol motor also gets a mild-hybrid SHVS Smart Hybrid system that assists in Engine Stop-Start system and initial Torque. However, this system will not be available on the CNG variants.
The CNG variant gets an Intelligent Injection System and dual Interdependent ECUs for optimum power. Auto Fuel Switch helps in seamlessly switching from Petrol to CNG without any jerks.
The Ertiga CNG is priced at ₹8.88lacs and Ertiga M Tour CNG is priced at ₹8.83lacs, which at a premium of ₹71,000 over the petrol model.
