After the commendable success of new-gen Tata cars post-Tiago, Tata Motors has now decided to enter into the market with a premium hatchback named Altroz to mainly compete with Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, and Hyundai Elite i20.
It expected to launch in the festive season. The expected price for Altroz is ₹6lakhs to ₹9lakhs (ex-showroom).
Altroz will be based on the Alfa modular platform which is considerably light and offers much more safety. It will follow the IMPACT 2.0 design language as seen already on Tata Harrier and will be seen on facelifts of Tiago, Tigor, and Nexon in the following months.
It will be based on the 45X concept showcased at Auto Expo 2018. It was showcased at the Geneva Motor show 2019.
Various Safety features like ABS-EBD, dual front airbags, speed alert system, speed-sensing door locks will be standard, following the new norms under BNVSAP ( Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program).
Other features include a digital tachometer as seen on Harrier, split DRLs and projector headlamps setup, rear parking sensors with camera, fog lamps, push-button start-stop, automatic climate control, and a cooled glove box. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system sporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with other apps will be available onboard. It is expected to get an 8-speaker system for providing one of the best sound quality in the segment as seen in other Tata cars already.
Powering the Altroz will be the same 1.2l Revotron and 1.5l Revotorq motor that powers Nexon. The petrol motor and the oil burner, are both expected to be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and be available at a slightly lower power tune. Both engines are expected to be BSVI ready.
