Toyota Vellfire: Luxury MPV showcased in India

A luxury MPV is still a segment that has liking abroad but is still largely unexplored in India. The only luxury MPV on sale is the Mercedes Benz V-Class that was launched recently. A luxury MPV isn't as much performance-centric as a sedan or an SUV but has its main motive of commuting in comfort. Comfort levels are high in vehicles of this segment and it focusses on other creature comforts as well.

The Toyota Vellfire was showcased in India in a closed-door event to its prospective buyers. It is a slightly sportier version of Toyota Alphard, offering the same level of comfort with a sporty feel. It shall be available as a CBU, from Thailand.

The Vellfire gets a 6 seat layout with flexible seating options, leather upholstery, multiple zone climate controls, and several other features. Some leaked images also indicate that it sports twin sunroofs, 7 airbags, tables for all rows. The only powertrain on offer is a 2.5-liter petrol hybrid motor, mated to an e-CVT, churning out 178bhp of power and 235NM of peak torque.

The Vellfire MPV could be priced anywhere around ₹75 lakhs competing with Mercedes-Benz V-Class.
